Wishes for Ben and Conner

Two days ago, I ran out to take pictures of the moon for Benjamin and Conner.  I missed the last supermoon (fell asleep), and I kinda missed this one too.  I ran out too late - I should have gotten it at the horizon.  I felt awful about missing it.  But next month there is a blood moon, so maybe I can catch that one.  Seeing the moon always makes me think of my baby boys. I wonder if we are all watching the same moon.

Today is their 8 month birthday. When I told my dad, he was incredulous that the twins were already 8 months old.  I made lemon blueberry cupcakes for them and Tim and I brought them to my parents house and Tim's parents house.  My cousin was visiting, and Tim's sister and her kids made a trip to see us, too. Each cupcake had a candle on it, and everyone made a wish for the boys before they blew out the candle and had the cupcake.

No one shared their wishes out loud, but I could tell everyone was contemplative in what they were wishing.  I had my first two cupcakes by myself at home, and wished the boys were together, happy, safe, and healthy in heaven. My third wish when I was at my parents was that they were having fun mountain biking and playing soccer.  My fourth wish at Tim's parents house (not my cupcake... I was full, so I blew Tim's out) was that the boys were watching us at that moment.

What I really wish is that we were never blowing those candles out in the first place.

I wish my boys were here with us today.

Happy 8 month birthday, baby boys.  A lifetime is forever until I get to hold you again.

  4. Happy 8 month birthday Conner and Benjamin! I think the way you celebrated it was perfect! I believe your boys were watching it and are so proud of how their parents continue to celebrate them. My wish would be that they continue to find ways to let you know they are together and are always with you.

  5. Stunning pictures of the moon! I absolutely love the moon too. I am certain that your boys are looking at the same moon and thinking of you always.

You had beautiful, and genuine wishes. And I too, wish that you didn't need to blow out those candles in the first place. If I could make a wish it's that our sons are together, friends, and remind eachother that every now and then, they need to send their mamas some signs.. just little ones to let us breathe until the next one.

  6. Hey Krystal - I didn't want to leave this comment on a recent post, it's my full e-mail address. But was leaving it for two reasons - if you can send me the digital card for RAOK for Connor & Ben.
I was also wondering if you'd feel comfortable sending me your mailing address (or one where I can mail you something-PO Box?)
Something I've recently found and was just waving their names (Connor&Ben!!!!) at me...
