Second trimester!

How far along? 14 weeks!
What's happening with  baby?  Baby is the size of a lemon and can squint, frown, suck his/her thumb, and PEE!  Who thought I could be so excited about pee? I also joked today at the ultrasound that the baby's body is catching up to his/her head.  Liver is producing bile and baby is a bit more active.
Total weight gain: The stars have aligned and I'm back to my normal weight.  Turns out everything before was just some major bloat.
Maternity clothes?  Yoga pants today, holler.
Stretch marks? Not yet.
Sleep: Like a baby. Pun intended.
Best moment this week:  Ultrasound today showed NO BLEEDING!  Thank you all for your support and prayers :)  I looked straight at Tim when the ultrasound tech said that and I've never seen someone more relieved in my life.
Miss Anything?  SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM.  We went to get shakes yesterday only for us to realize that I couldn't have it.  Listeria, damn you.
Differences between Baby C and Conner and Ben at this point: Going in for ultrasounds with the boys, I was so excited.  With Baby C, I hold my breath until we see the heartbeat.  I always expect the worst.
Emotions:  14 weeks is supposed to be the "safe zone" for many pregnancies.  Many people feel comfortable spreading their pregnancy announcements and buying baby stuff at this point.  Not me.  I lost Conner and Ben in the second trimester, just 10 days shy of "viability," a word I still hate.  If we can get through this second trimester, I will start to calm down a little bit.  This is the scariest period of time for me.
Difficulties this week:  Pregnancy no longer equals baby for me.  I am still struggling to get more excited for the future. I still have not taken home a Babies R Us catalog from the OB. I am also analyzing every little thing, from the fact that our baby's arm is still up in the air like it was last week and the fact that s/he didn't move as much as I wanted.  IS MY BABY NORMAL?!  Yes, I am that mom now.
Movement:  Baby was a bit more active in the ultrasound today and his/her body was jerking around a little bit.  I'll be more relieved when I see more movement.  I remember at this point, the boys were more active in ultrasounds.  I also remember Baby C being more active a couple weeks ago.
Food cravings/aversions: No more ice tea.  In fact, I don't really want much of anything anymore.  I have a taste for nothing, which makes it really hard when meal times come around.
Symptoms: Heartburn. I never had it with Conner and Ben, so this is new for me.  The only time I've ever gotten heartburn is when I drink hard liquor (which I also miss a bit).
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Depends on if I'm hungry or not.
Looking forward to:  Gender scan in two weeks!  Tim still thinks it is a girl and I'm up in the air about it, although lately I've been thinking its a boy.

Also, look who looks more like a baby today and less like a puppy (and still a little like a mermaid):

  3. So, so happy for such a great update! Honestly sometimes I feel like you are my daughter and I am on pins and needles for news. I could not be happier that there is no more bleeding! Also, heartburn means your baby will have lots of hair (this is a scientific fact according to old wives!)

    1. That just made my heart so happy. So many people in our lives dismissed our loss so quickly, and the support and encouragement I get from you and from other readers gives me strength when I need it the most. Now that you've mentioned heartburn and lots of hair, I'm even more happy - I always told my husband that I don't care what this baby looks like, but it better have my hair :)

  5. Yay for no more bleeding! That is amazing news. I totally hear you about being more anxious as opposed to excited. The first appointments we had with Preston, I was just scared they'd tell me there was no heartbeat, or that the baby had stopped growing...and while I didn't lose Preston during pregnancy, I know that I'll be the same as you - holding my breath... hopefully that feeling goes away. And yay for 2 weeks to find out the gender! Keeping you, baby C and Tim in my thoughts and prayers!

    1. Thank you for the support! My husband would laugh if he read this - he is so sure that this baby is a girl and he would be happy to know that most people agree with him. And glad I'm not the only one who sees the mermaid!

  7. Krystal! I am so excited for you!!! Every night when I'm trying to go to sleep I remember to check the blog. (And that I owe you an email). It would be lovely for Conner and Ben to be big brothers to a little sister but a little brother is good too :) I'm gonna be honest though I'm kind of rooting team pink.

    1. I don't think anyone thinks its a boy, which makes my husband smile (because he wants to be right for once). I hope you and little Raegan have been doing well!

  9. Girl, I couldn't be more excited about this post. No bleeding, Second Tri, beautiful baby, beautiful/stunning/tiny little you!!! This is amazing. I am so happy for you, and I totally understand that it's probably not easy to just sit back and enjoy. Loss ruins you. BUT, I am standing with you that this little one is here for the long haul!

I'm voting girl, haha! As if I get a vote ;)
